EFTEFT has been proven clinically effective as a simple yet powerful way of releasing fears, phobias, anxieties, angers, addictions, and all kinds of emotional and physical issues. Below is a brief outline of how to use this sytem. I suggest that in order to get the maximum benefit from EFT you not only use the sequence below but read the full free manual on Gary Craig’s site which has the full sequence and the theories behind them. The Discovery Statement “The cause of all negative emotions is a disruption in the body’s energy system. The first step in EFT is to pick one issue that you would like to alleviate (i.e. craving chocolate). It’s best that it be as specific as possible. EFT is most effective when addressing specifics aspects of larger issues (i.e. I want to alleviate negative thoughts; it would be better to pick a specific thought and work on that.). Once you have picked your issue, you evaluate how strong (how much discomfort you have regarding) this issue is on a scale of one to 10. You are going to use the following set-up phrase, “Even though I “issue” (i.e. crave chocolate), I deeply and completely accept myself” at the beginning of the sequence.Finding the Sore Spot The Basic RecipeYou’re going to tap the following points about 7-10 times while saying the reminder phrase. You can tap with either hand but it is usually more convenient to do so with your dominant hand. You’ll want to tap with the fingertips of your index finger and middle finger. You can tap on either side of the body. Both work equally well. Point 1 - At the beginning of the eyebrow, just above and to one side of the nose. Tap and say “Even though I have (this issue), I deeply and completely accept myself.” Point 2 - On the bone bordering the outside corner of the eye. Tap and say “Even though I have (this issue), I deeply and completely accept myself.” Point 3 - On the bone under an eye about 1 inch below your pupil. Tap and say “Even though I have (this issue), I deeply and completely accept myself.” Point 4 - On the small area between the bottom of your nose and the top of your upper lip. Tap and say “Even though I have (this issue), I deeply and completely accept myself.” Point 5 - Midway between the point of your chin and the bottom of your lower lip. Tap and say “Even though I have (this issue), I deeply and completely accept myself.”
Point 6 - The junction where the sternum (breastbone), collarbone and the first rib meet. To locate it, first place your forefinger on the U-shaped notch at the top of the breastbone. Tap and say “Even though I have (this issue), I deeply and completely accept myself.” Point 7 - On the side of the body, at a point even with the nipple (for men) or in the middle of the bra strap (for women). It is about 4 inches below the armpit. Tap and say “Even though I have (this issue), I deeply and completely accept myself.” Ending Point - Tap all over the crown of your head. Tap and say “Even though I have (this issue), I deeply and completely accept myself.”
After you have done the first round, check to see how much discomfort
you’re still feeling. I find a lot of the time I start out at an 8 and
drop to a 5 or a 3. In using this technique and listening to and sharing
information with others who use this technique, I’ve found that if you
continue using it you find the right method that is for you. Some
people tap with both hands. Some people alternate sides of the body.
Some people rephrase their reminder affirmation while they are doing the
tapping and that works better for them. There are many variations.
